SCIDI headed back to New York

SCIDI divers once again conducted surveys in Lake George, NY for invasive Asian clams. With water temperatures in the low 40s divers Dan Marelli, Steve Resler and Alan Humphrey assisted personnel from the Darrin Fresh Water Institute. Surveys are meant to measure the effectiveness of eradication projects in the lake.

SCIDI does invasive mollusk research.

Scientific Diving International has been involved in survey work and research on invasive zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha) in Lake George, NY for a number of years.  We have recently been working on the invasive Asian clam (Corbicula fluminea), a clam that has extended its northern range into lakes in upstate New York as well as lakes in the Finger Lakes region of New York.  Our scientists, along with those of InnerSpace Scientific Diving and scientists and students of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institution's Darrin Fresh Water Institute have been heavily involved in survey work and res
